One of the most beautiful sunrises in Latvia is definitely at the Kemeri National Park. That is also one of the reasons the Latvians are ready to wake up at 2 am / 3 am at night to experience this gorgeous moment of the morning. The funny fact about Latvia being located in the Northern part of Europe is that the days are long in summers and short in winters. This means that the sunrise/sunset times vary very much depending on the time of the year. The sunrise at the time of Summer solstice is around 4.30 am. This gives you a fantastic opportunity to get the most of your holidays in Riga as you will be dropped off in your hotel by 8 am (depending on the type of tour you choose) for a breakfast.
Starting from the summer of 2022 we offer a chance to stay for a night at the top of the view tower in a Kemeri National Park (you can rent sleeping bags, sleeping pads, tent, thermos, etc.) to experience the total silence during the night and to wake up before the sun rises. You can even combine both – the sunset and sunrise at the Kemeri Park by staying over the night at the top of the view tower in the middle of the Kemeri Bog. During the Summer solstice time, the sun sets at around 10.20 pm.If you do not want to stay for a night and are not very keen about waking up at 2 am / 2.30 am (the pickup in June/July is around 3 am) you can book just a Kemeri Sunset tour. This is a great option for those who want to get as much as they can from their journey to Riga. During the day you can explore the city and from 8 pm – 9 pm, you will be picked up from your hotel for the Kemeri Sunset tour.
Winter is a great time to experience the sunrise because you do not need to wake up at 2 am / 3 am to make this happen. Around the winter solstice the sun rises at 9 am, therefore the pickup is at 7.15 am / 7.30 am. At that time of the year sunset at 3.45 pm / 4 pm, so you can explore Jurmala city, Kemeri town, Raganu Bog (The bog of the Witches) before heading to Great Kemeri bog to see the sunset. Please keep in mind that the winters can be cold in Latvia (sometimes with -15/-20 C degrees or more), so dress accordingly.Any of the options mentioned above can be combined with a visit to Jurmala city, Kemeri town and one or more walking trails of Kemeri National Park. More about the Kemeri National Park and the additional options you can read here.
The pickup times do vary depending on the time when the sun rises/sets and are correct for the middle of July. Once you send us the date you are inquiry about and which from the options below you would like to book, we will inform you about the exact pickup time.If you are looking to do a Kemeri tour from Riga, you can choose one of three options we have made or make your own by adding/removing any trail or a sight.
