Soviet Nuclear Bunker

You will be picked up from your hotel and after 1.5 hours drive you reach the Ligatne where the former Soviet bunker is located. To provide the lowest possible price, we offer tours mostly on weekends when there are group tours at the bunker. This means that when you arrive, there can be more people joining the tour. In summer open group tours are at 12 noon (pick up in Riga at 10.15 am), at 2 pm (pick up in Riga at 12.15 pm) and at 4 pm (pick up in Riga at 2.15 pm). Winter tours at the bunker start at 12 noon and at 2 pm.

The tour of the bunker will be in English, done by one of the guides of the bunker. After the tour, you will have a chance to buy some Soviet time memorabilia (gas masks, magnets, key rings). Before returning to Riga you will have 20 minutes of free time in the historical centre of Ligatne, to visit some of the sandstone caves, walk up to the viewing platform or just buy some soft drinks/ice cream and rest in some outdoor cafe.

During the Soviet nuclear bunker tour you will see:

• Plans and reflections on the situation in case of breaking all hydropower plant dams
• Autonomous power plant with diesel generators and fuel warehouse
• Conditioning equipment for air purification with oxygen reserves
• Water supply and sewerage equipment operating on a submarine principle
• Telecommunications blocks for communication with Moscow - the Kremlin and all the most important services in the country
• Books, written by Marx, Lenin and Brezhnev
• A unique map with the historical names of the collective farms;
• A canteen with a typical Soviet-time menu
• Different Soviet-era household items.

Price 65 EUR/pp (if at least 3 people in a group), including transportation, entry tickets and a guided bunker tour.

If you wish to have a private tour, it costs an extra 50 EUR in total. In that case, no other tourists will be added to the tour and you can have a lunch stop (own expense) at Ligatne town and have free time of up to 2 hours to explore the town and some of the hiking trails located nearby.
